classic logon

Is there any way to get the classic logon box in Vista 5308? I've looked in the User applet, User management (Administrative Tools), and run control userpasswords 2. I have it checked that all users must enter a password, but still have the "welcome screen" with the icons.

I couldn't find anything as well so I change the "LogonType" value to 0 in the registry and I still didn't get the classic log on screen even after a reboot.

I also tried changing the values and was a no go here also

I think it's going to be a per-edition thing. I think that schools will probably opt for Vista Business as that's similar to XP today, and I think that will have the option to have the classic prompt. Also I think that editions "suited" for home users will not have it, such as Vista Home Basic or Vista Home Premium.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the input.

Stop thinking, all SKUs will have the Windows Vista log on screen, I suspect the one in Starter 2007 will be static and the one in the other SKUs will be dynamic as can be seen in 5308. -- -- Andre Windows Connect | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Zack Whittaker (R2 Mentor)" wrote in message

I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, Andre. Could you explain, please?

He basically said that all editions will have the classic Ctrl+Alt+Delete logon screen, except the lowest level edition Windows Starter 2007, which will be totally static as in you can't change it, while the other editons have the option to change... I think.
Anyway, we haven't seen a classic prompt yet in Vista, so how does Andre think he knows? I'm just making wild suggestions, but I think that they are plausable at least.

If you look at the lower left of the welcome screen, you'll see a check box beside a statement that essentially says, Show This Screen when opening windows. Somethin like that. Uncheck it, and you shouldn't see the screen again.
